The Berlin Festival regains its song with a Hollywood synthesis
After two stressful years, the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) is seeking to restore its rhymes with a Hollywood synthesis at its 73rd session, scheduled to start from February 16 to February 26.
Last year, the festival faced several crises affecting the cycle, which coincided with the escalation of the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, and its administration was obliged to impose strict counter-measures that prompted many filmmakers, critics and media to retreat from attendance.
This year, the Department is trying to offset this by expanding the programs, locations and films involved, supporting talent, as well as focusing on a Hollywood synthesis in an effort to attract as much global media attention as possible, starting with the selection of young star Christine Stewart as chair of the International Jury, despite the controversy surrounding this selection.
On February 21, the festival is also awarded the "Golden Bear" Award for Lifetime Achievement by American director and producer Steven Spielberg. On this occasion, it features the latest film "Al Fabelman", in which he recounts part of his autobiography. The opening film is the romantic comedy "She Came to Me" by American director Rebecca Miller and stars: Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, Joanna Collage and Brian de Arce James.
This year, Poster celebrates an audience that has proven to be the core of any film festival in the past two years. Its presence gives it its joy and vitality, while the European film market returns. (EFM) organized by the festival, to work with the participation and presence of filmmakers in various locations in Potzdamer Platz region from February 16 to 22, after the absence of two years in which the market's activities were held by default on the Internet, the number of participants this year is expected to reach 11 thousand and 500 people, among filmmakers, producers, distributors and programmers.
In celebration of the return, the festival also seeks to expand the galleries, along with the main programme for the screening of the official competition films, and the performances of "Gala" at the festival palace, other screenings of the films of the various programmes, the replays of the competition screenings and "Gala" are held in other locations and galleries outside the festival center so that cinema lovers in Berlin enjoy watching the movies.
