Home

The body of Pharaoh Ramesses II is located in the National Museum of Civilization in downtown Cairo, Egypt. The mummy of Ramses II was discovered in the Valley of the Kings in the West Bank of the historical Thebes in 1881 AD, and was later transferred to Deir el-Bahari, a group of ancient pharaonic temples and tombs located in the West Bank The Nile River, and in 1885 AD the mummy was transferred to the Cairo Museum.

In 1974 AD, Egyptian scientists noticed a rapid deterioration in the condition of the mummy, so they decided to transfer it to the French Antiquities Center in Paris for examination, restoration and studies.

The body of Pharaoh Ramesses II is the most famous mummy among the mummies of the pharaohs that have been mummified and preserved so far. This body belongs to Ramesses II, who is the third pharaoh of the 19th ruling family. To the Levant and the countries of Canaan, and the control of the Pharaohs was imposed on them.

Ramesses II ruled Egypt in the period from 1279 BC to 1213 BC, and his father appointed him crown prince when she was 14 years old, and he was appointed Pharaoh of Egypt while he was still a boy in his early twenties.

It is believed that the mummy of Ramesses II is the corpse of Pharaoh who drowned in the sea when he joined the Prophet of God Moses, as it was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an that the story of Pharaoh with the Prophet Moses - upon him be peace - was mentioned more than 1000 years ago. Pharaoh was a mighty and tyrant king, and God Almighty sent Our master Musa - peace be upon him - to Pharaoh and his people to call the Children of Israel to the Oneness of God - the Mighty and Sublime

And after Pharaoh and his people denied the prophecy of our master Moses, peace be upon him, despite the miracles and proofs that he presented to them, Pharaoh decided that he and his soldiers should follow our master Moses, and those with him who believed in his prophecy to eliminate them and end their affairs, and during the escape of Moses and those with him from Pharaoh and his soldiers, they reached a dead end. In deep waters, here Moses' followers thought they would perish at the hands of Pharaoh and his soldiers

One of the miracles of our master Moses was that he hit the water with his stick and a path split from the water that our master Moses and his followers walked on, until they reached the other side, and when Pharaoh and his soldiers reached the deep waters and tried to walk on the same path, Pharaoh and some of his soldiers drowned in the water that surrounded them from every side.

Then God Almighty commanded the waters to throw the body of Pharaoh from its belly to the land, and the rest of the soldiers of Pharaoh carried his body to his family, who embalmed it immediately and buried it, which is believed to be the same body of Ramesses II now known
